The experience

At MM PHOTOS we strive to create artwork that will sit timelessly on the walls of your home for years to come. Our hope is that the photos we take will capture moments of fun, joy and the essence of your family’s personality. Each time you take a peep, or stop momentarily to look at the images, we hope that the enjoyment of this experience will look right back at you.

Everything that you need to know about your Family Portrait Experience is described below, broken down step-by-step so that you understand exactly what to expect, and so that we’re on the same page.

Step 1 - Book your session

One of our team will call you to book your session.

We take photos every day of the week, starting as early as the sun rises, and with the last appointment at 3pm (daylight savings depending).

We take one Newborn sessions a day only, to ensure that this precious time is not rushed, and families feel at ease. (This means that they also book up quickly, so make sure you book BEFORE baby comes (because life gets very busy afterwards!)). Newborn photos are taken in the first 14 days of a baby’s life to ensure that the fragile and wrinkly period is captured before it passes!

When choosing your booking time, please consider things that may affect the time you choose to book. For example, kids’ sleeping schedules, weekend sport and work commitments.

We require a $100 booking fee to secure your family’s time in our calendar. The $100 will be credited towards any items purchased at the ordering session which follows your photography shoot. The booking fee is not refunded if you give us less than 72 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel your session. (Please understand that we need to allocate resources to your shoot, and like any business, if you cancel with no notice, we are left high and dry!)

Step 2 – Before your session – prepare!

 Take a moment to visualise the type of artwork you’d like to see in your home, and where it will go! Peruse our website and draw inspiration from our gallery of artwork. Make a mental note of things you like and pop a physical note in your phone, so you remember to tell your photographer!

Also think about what you’d like to wear and how you’d like to dress your kids. We recommend block colours (that is, no striking patterns or logos) and calm colours work well together.

Is there anything you’d like to bring with you? Sentimental keepsakes? Change of baby clothes?

We’ll send you a pre-shoot questionnaire which we need you to complete. It will be sent to you via email. It puts us on the same page so that we can photograph you in the way you like.

For any questions, and to make sure you know what to expect, one of our team will contact you a couple of days before your shoot to talk-you through the process.

Step 3 – Your Photography Session

This is the day! We believe that your Family Portrait Experience is as much about the photography shoot itself, as the finished artwork. We want you to look at the artwork on your walls and remember the fun you had whilst taking those photos!

The photography session takes roughly an hour. We take 300-400 photos during the shoot and we take photos across a range of backgrounds so that we create a portfolio of images for you.

Our photographers have a special way (really, they do!) of making all types feel comfortable in front of the camera. Be yourselves and we will personalise your shoot to ensure that your personalities shine!

Step 4 – Afterwards – Your Ordering Session

Your photos are ready a week after your photography session.

We need both parents (if applicable) to attend our studio for an ordering session. (Remember, we only redeem your voucher/gift card if both adults attend!)

Here, we’ll show you the top 30-50 images. It’s a really enjoyable session, and you’ll love what you see!

We’ll help you select the images you’d like to take home with you, showing you all available options. Our aim to is create artwork that captures your family’s essence.

We have many artwork options, to suit all homes and styles and all budgets. Our prices start at $250 for single matted prints, wall art from $395 and artwork collections at $1195-$6995.

We also offer payment plans (in-house or PayRight)

Step 5 – Collect your Artwork

All artwork ordered can be collected from our studio in Randwick approximately 4-6 weeks after your ordering appointment. We’ll give you a call to let you know when you can collect.

We work with the industry’s best companies to ensure that the quality of products used in the delivery of our artwork, is top. Ask us any question and we will qualify why, what and how, when it comes to these choices.

When you collect your artwork, you’ll know instantly what professional artwork looks like.

Step 6 – Show the world!

You dreamed it, planned it, photographed it and now it’s time to hang it pride of place.

The artwork’s home is your home. We can’t wait for you to walk past it, glance back at it, stop momentarily to savour the memory of the photoshoot (and receive millions on compliments on it!). It will grow with your family. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.
